Partial crown
A partial crown is a gentle alternative to a crown if there are extensive hard tooth substance defects that can no longer be restored satisfactorily with a plastic filling. In contrast to a crown, the preparation for a partial crown is somewhat gentler on the substance. The preparation margin is in the area of the tooth cusps and not at the tooth neck, so that more tooth structure can be preserved. Both precious metal alloys and ceramics are possible, whereby the latter is preferable from an esthetic point of view.
