Partial crown

A partial crown is a gentle alternative to a crown if there are extensive tooth structure defects that can no longer be satisfactorily restored with a plastic filling. In contrast to a crown, the preparation for a partial crown is somewhat more conservative. The preparation margin runs in the area of the tooth cusps and not at the tooth neck, so that more tooth structure can be preserved.

Both precious metal alloys and ceramics are possible, whereby the latter is preferable from an esthetic point of view.
