Dentures

The term dentures covers a wide range of treatments in dentistry, including crowns, bridges, removable dentures, prostheses and implants. The creation of a crown also falls under the term dental prosthesis, although the focus here is on tooth preservation.

Our treatment options for dentures:

Overview of types of dentures

Crown

With a crown, the tooth is encased to protect it from further destruction. If a single tooth is missing, it can usually be replaced by a bridge or an implant. The disadvantage of a bridge is that the neighboring teeth have to be ground down. An implant can be used to replace a tooth by implanting an artificial tooth root into the jaw, which is then later fitted with a crown.

Removable dentures

Removable dentures are required when several teeth are missing, a bridge is no longer possible and implants are out of the question. Clasps, anchoring crowns with attachments and double crowns or telescopic crowns are available for anchoring. The missing teeth are replaced with a plastic saddle and teeth attached to it.

Total prosthesis

If there are no teeth left at all, full dentures are used, which are mainly held in place by suction forces. These can also be stabilized with implants.
